BIOGRAPHY
Mireia Feliu Fabra is a multimedia artist who works and lives in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). She has received prestigious recognitions such as the Fundació Espais Award (Girona, 2006), New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship (Computer Art, 2005), Location One International Residency (New York, 2005), 4th Art Competition Gobierno de Cantabria (2005), SVA Alumni Society Award (New York, 2004), Eyebeam Internship (New York, 2004), Diapason Gallery Residency (New York, 2003), Fundació ”la Caixa” Fellowship (Barcelona, 2001), Peggy Guggenheim Collection Internship (Venice, 1999), and the European Community (ERASMUS scholarship, 1998). Her work has been exhibited around Europe, China and USA, in festivals like Loop’05 & '07 and Kosmopolis’08 at CCCB Barcelona Contemporary Culture Center (Barcelona), YouthIcons’06, Media Art Festival (Athens, Greece), Region 0 and Big Screen Project (both in New York, 2011). Her video Identity was recently purchased by the Government of Cantabria. Her most recent solo shows have been in the New Media Gallery - Oranim Academic College (Israel, 2011), in Centre d'Art Cal Massó (Reus, 2010) and Safia Gallery (Barcelona, 2010); and her lectures, at the Center of Technology - Oranim Academic College (Israel, 2011), at School of Visual Arts (New York, 2010), at The International Center in New York (2010), and at the 1st International Congress of Design & Innovation of Catalonia (Sabadell, 2010). She is currently Professor and Responsible of the Video Unit at the Audiovisual Department of ESDi School of Design, Ramon Llull University.
Mireia Feliu Fabra received a BFA at Universitat de Barcelona, coursing the last year at Leeds Metropolitan University (UK), a MFA from School of Visual Arts (Computer Art) in New York, and a DEA (Diploma d'Estudis Avançats) at Universitat de Barcelona, where she is currently working on her Ph.D. Thesis Project titled IN-QUIETUDS (REST-LESSNESS).
